The Mueller investigation reminds me of Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan:
Trump: Mueller, you bloodsucker! You’re going to have to do your own dirty work now! Do you hear me? Do you?
Mueller: Trump? Trump, you’re still alive, my old friend?
Trump: Still, “old friend”! You’ve managed to accuse just about everyone else, but like a poor marksman, you keep missing the target!
Mueller: Perhaps I no longer need to try, Mr. President.
Trump: Mueller… Mueller, you’ve got Cohen, but you don’t have me. You were going to accuse me, Mueller. You’re going to have to come here. You’re going to have to come to the White House!
Mueller: I’ve done far worse than accuse you. I’ve smeared you. And I wish to go on smearing you. I shall leave you as you left her; marooned for all eternity at the end of a dead political career… buried alive! Buried alive…!
Trump: MUELLERRRRRRRRRR!
Let’s look at the timeline. “Captain’s Log, stardate 36-24-26-5-3…”
July 19, 2016, Donald Trump became the GOP presidential candidate.
July, 2016, the FBI began a Trump-Russia investigation. Is it cynical to conclude the Obama administration wanted to torpedo a Republican candidate?
August 19, 2016, Paul Manafort resigned from the Trump campaign.
November 8, 2016, Donald Trump was elected the President of the United States.
January 20, 2017, Donald Trump became the President of the United States.
March 20, 2017, FBI Director James Comey stated the FBI was investigating possible collusion between Russia and members of the Trump campaign.
Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, the same man who appointed Comey, recommended terminating Comey. Rosenstein, asserted Comey had negatively affected the reputation and credibility of the FBI and DoJ, and Comey held a press conference to recommend against criminal charges for Clinton (instead of giving the damning information to federal prosecutors). Remember, plenty of Leftists were previously baying for Comey’s head on a pike (metaphorically).
May 9, 2017, President Trump pulled the lever, James Comey was fired.
May 17, 2017, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein appoints former FBI Director Robert Mueller) as the Special Counsel to lead an investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election. Mueller was Comey’s predecessor and both men were mentored by Eric Holder, what a coincidence! The scope of Mueller’s job is to investigate:
(1) Any links and/or coordination bet ween the Russian government and individuals associated with the campaign of President Donald Trump (so, this is about Russia-Russia-Russia)
(2) Any matters that arose or may arise directly from the investigation (so, this is a fishing expedition, “You show me the man. I’ll show you the crime.”)
(3) Any other matters within the scope of 28 C.F.R. § 600.4(a); meaning to investigate and prosecute federal crimes committed in the course of, and with intent to interfere with, the Special Counsel’s investigation, such as perjury, obstruction of justice, destruction of evidence, and intimidation of witnesses (so, these are procedural crimes)
August 2018, Deputy FBI Director David Bowdich fired FBI Senior Counterintelligence Agent Peter Strzok. Strzok helped oversee the Clinton email scandal (which resulted in no criminal charges despite the abundance of evidence provided by the FBI itself) and the Russia-Russia-Russia investigation (which is ongoing despite any evidence of collusion). The New York Times would like people to believe he was fired for being critical of President Trump. Inspector General Michael Horowitz miraculously found no evidence of bias on Strzok’s part. Even Mueller removed Strzok from the investigation after damning text messages between Peter Strzok and Lisa Page, including:
Lisa Page: “[Trump’s] not ever going to become president right? Right?!”
Peter Strzok: “No. No he won’t. We’ll stop it.”
And…
Peter Strzok: “I want to believe… that there’s no way he gets elected — but I’m afraid we can’t take that risk. It’s like an insurance policy in the unlikely event you die before you’re 40.”
Call me paranoid, but, maybe, just maybe, when a high-ranking federal law enforcement officer starts taking about an “insurance policy” against an American citizen… maybe that’s a problem.
Lisa Page, who was briefly part of the Mueller investigation, resigned from the FBI. Good riddance.
FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe recused himself from the Clinton email investigation after The Wall Street Journal reported Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe donated nearly $467,500 from his PAC and $207,788 from the Virginia Democratic Party (over which he has influence) to Jill McCabe’s campaign in 2015. Terry McAuliffe has longstanding ties to the Clintons.
FBI Chief Lawyer James Baker resigned from the FBI. He was under scrutiny for leaking classified information about the Steele dossier. What’s the Steele dossier? When Trump became the Republican nominee, the Clinton campaign and the Democrat party paid for Fusions GPS research. Fusion GPS hired Christopher Steele, a British former intelligence officer, to get dirt on Trump. Steele produced a dossier full of unsubstantiated allegations. Steele was (surprise) also a paid FBI asset. According to Trey Gowdy, “We’ll never know whether or not the FBI had enough without the [Steele] dossier, the unvetted, DNC-funded dossier, because they included it and everyone who reads this FISA application sees the amount of reliance they placed on this product funded by Hillary Clinton’s campaign and the DNC.”
August 21, 2018, Paul Manafort (Trump’s campaign chairman, who resigned from the campaign on August 19, 2016) was found guilty of five tax fraud charges, one charge of hiding foreign bank accounts, and two counts of bank fraud. Did anyone else notice none of those charges are connected to Russia-Russia-Russia? Did anyone else notice none of those charges are connected to Trump?
“Mr. Manafort, you seem like a nice guy, and I want to help you. But you gotta give me something I can take to my boss. I think we both know Trump is the real bad guy here. What can you give me?”
August 21, 2018, Michale Cohen (Trump’s personal lawyer) pleaded guilty to five counts of tax evasion, one count of bank fraud, and two counts of campaign finance violations. Did anyone else notice none of those charges are connected to Russia-Russia-Russia? The two counts of campaign finance violations pertain to paying hush money to two women.
“Mister Cohen, that’s a nice life you had there. Look, you’re a small fish to us, we want Trump. Maybe, if you’d being willing to help us fry the big fish, maybe you’d spend less time in the fire. You want to breathe free air before you die don’t you? Good. Good. Here’s what you’re going to say, you’re going to say Trump told you to break these two laws specifically to influence the election. That last part is important. Got it? Good.”
In Star Trek, Khan loses and Kirk wins. Maybe life will imitate art.
What do I know? I’m Justa Gaibroh.
