FRANCIS O’ROURKE STRIKES AGAIN

Let’s start off with some basic civics. The U.S. Constitution, Article II, Section I reads: Before he enter on the Execution of his Office, he shall take the following Oath or Affirmation: “I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.”

It is the president’s job to preserve the Constitution. It is not his job to change the Constitution.

The First Amendment is part of the Constitution. This is obvious, but some on the Left don’t seem to get it. The First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution reads: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

That is good, straightforward, common sense protection of liberty. Now let’s compare that to the American Left. On October 10, 2019, Robert O’Rourke announced, if he is elected, the First Amendment will not apply to religious institutions that don’t conform to Democrat social policies. See for yourself.

DON LEMON (CNN):

Do you think religious institutions, like colleges, churches, charities, should they lose their tax-exempt status if they oppose same-sex marriage?

ROBERT FRANCIS O’ROURKE:

Yes.

AUDIENCE:

(Applauds in Totalitarian)

ROBERT FRANCIS O’ROURKE:

There can be no reward, no benefit, no tax break for anyone or any institution, any organization in America that denies the full human rights and the full civil rights of every single one of us. And so as president, we’re going to make that a priority and we are going to stop those who are infringing upon the human rights of our fellow Americans.

Republicans, Libertarians, conservatives, constitution originalists, and other free people should have some serious concerns about O’Rourke’s statement. Somebody should tell Francis that Freedom of Religion is, in fact, a human right (and trampling a human right to appease a special interest is… bad).

There are people who clutch their pearls and collapse upon fainting couches at the thought of prayer at high schools graduations, nativity scenes on public property, and a rubble cross at ground zero. Does anyone think they will be outraged over the government deciding who will have tax exempt status based on conformity to the political dictation? I doubt it.

I have questions. You should too.

Will this be an executive order? It must be, right? Neither the president, nor the courts have the ability to make law. Or doesn’t that matter if a Democrat is in office? Does anyone on the Left in the media care that this might be a grotesque violation of both civil rights and separation of powers? Don’t wait for them to Ree in outrage, they’re more likely to Squee in delight.

How will this executive order be enforced? This is not a small matter. Think about it. Will there be a Religion Czar? Will the IRS enforce it, or will there be yet another armed federal agency to do Democrats bidding? How will they determine which institutions are compliant? The city of Houston, Texas under Mayor Annise Parker subpoenaed sermons from pastors. Is that the method President O’Rourke would use to enforce his will? Would the Religion Czar dispatch Religion Commissars to audit services for content objectionable to the president? Would there be undercover agents attending services to report non-conformist prayers, Bible study topics, and sermons? To maintain their tax-free status, would institutions be required to submit recordings and transcripts before each service or after? Or will the president and his Religion Czar simply rely on average citizens to report Wrong Speak.

Some people will think I’m being paranoid or indulging in conspiracy theories. Well, several states have implemented Red Flag laws allowing the government to enter homes and seize the lawful property of gun owners on the say-so of people such as jilted ex-girlfriends and nosy waitresses, with no material evidence. What would stop the feds from enforcing a Red Flag executive order from the White House? Would the Leftists in office lift a finger, or would they say more needs to be done? Would the Democrats in front of cameras decry it, or would they celebrate it?

If you are the type of person who clings to his or her guns and religion, the Left thinks you’re deplorable. They believe trampling your rights is the enlightened thing to do. They are open about it. They are proud of it. They are running for office on it.

What do I know? I’m Justa Gaibroh.
